Lastobond
is a self-adhesive roofing underlayment composed of a giant fleece reinforcement
and S.B.S. modified bitumen. The top face is lightly sanded.
This type
of underlayment is designed to provide protection against roof leaks caused by
wind-driven rain or ice dams. The self-adhesive membrane is applied to gypsum
board on
steel decks, but can also be applied to concrete, plywood, or directly
to the flutes of steel
decks. It is impermeable, providing a complete air
and vapour barrier.
Lastobond can be used under shingles,
under metal roofs or as an air/vapour barrier
under thermal insulation
The advantages
of this type of S.B.S. Membrane is as follows;
self-adhesive,
self-sealing,
provides a tight seal at the edge of the roof,
flexible even in cold
weather,
impermeable to air, vapour, water and moisture,
offers high
resistance to high temperature softening and flow characteristics compared
to ordinary rubberized asphalt membranes.
