| Roofs'
worst enemies that are the main cause for major repairs are as follows: |
| WIND-
where shingles and metal sheets can be lifted up and this invites debris to get
stuck under, allowing water to create more damages. | |
ICE
AND SNOW-
are two dreaded destructive elements and most of its damages is seen in early
spring when water and ice backs up under the shingles and finds its way inside
the house causing leaks through the ceilings. Sometimes the weight of the ice
in the gutters can cause them to fall to the ground. Eventually this can become
a very costly repair. SUN-
is a killer with its ultraviolet rays
| FLASHINGS-
around
chimneys, vents, skylights or any other protrusions on the roof must be checked
at least one a year for possible leakeage. Otherwise, if they are not correctly
installed water will find its way down and through ceiling insulation, electrical
systems in the attic, creating eventual important damages to the roof system.

CONDENSATION-
If the attic is not properly ventilated the wood rots which is caused by excessive
moisture. We make sure that appropriate vents are installed to prevent this from
happening. RAIN- once it reaches the deck of the roof, the extra
moisture creates mold and mildew and damages can be seen to other parts of the
house if left un-repaired. PEAT MOSS-When trees are too close
to a house, the dampness stays on the roof and shingles and moss sets in causing
major deterioration to the roof and its framing in the attic. And again when trees
looses its branches due to a gust of wind, their is danger of puncture in the
roof system. It is advisable that all gutters be kept clear of branches, leaves
and debris in order to keep the drainage clear. SHINGLES-ripped
apart or missing will allow the wind to rip others surrounding the damaged ones.
These must be replaced immediately. If shingles easily crack and are no longer
waterproof because they are damages this damage will spread to the rest of the
roof. Again, they should be replaced. The
roof is unfortunately the one place we tend to forget until a major disaster arises.
It would be a wise decision to have it checked thoroughly by roofing experts as
a preventive measure. You may call on us
