When the chimney is at the
bottom of the slope
of the roof,We install a small folded roof metal that
diverts water away from the chimney. which is then covered with a bitumen membrane,carefully
placed under the chimney flashing. We install the type of shingles to match the
already existent one over the membrane to blend the folded roof metal with the
rest of the roof. Most of our flashing works is supplied by
from Ottawa, Ontario Canada
More often than not it would be wise to take a
close at your chimney, check for a loose flashing or lesions in the ciment. Sealed
them with ciment caulking. It would be a good idea to waterproof your chimney
with a coat of silicone sealer, a reliable product that stops water from going
into the brick of the chimney. |
What
is a flashing ?
A flashing is a sheet of metal that is nailed or glued over the
spaces between
a
chimney and the roof or
wall and the roof or is a
valley
between 2 roofs or between a
skylight and the roof
Before a new
roof is built, all necessary flashing work is
prepared by us,
measured and
appropriated to each individual roof concept and material.
In the case of a flashing replacement, again the surrounding
roof is rebuilt
anew, ready to accept the new flashing.
This procedure prevents future important
major repairs and
extends the life of the roof for a good many years.
